Proving that the Global Warming issue may indeed be simply a political issue we discover last night what 38 year veteran EPA scientist Alan Carlin tried to tell his bosses and the rest of the world back in March. The climate is cooling!

The 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin, pushed back on the prospect of regulating gases like carbon dioxide as a way to reduce global warming. Carlin’s report argued that the information the EPA was using was out of date, and that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, global temperatures have declined over the last 11 years.

Carlin’s boss at the EPA dismissed the report saying, “The administrator and the administration has decided to move forward on endangerment, and your comments do not help the legal or policy case for this decision,” he wrote, according to the e-mails released by CEI. “I can only see one impact of your comments given where we are in the process, and that would be a very negative impact on our office.”

He later wrote an e-mail urging Carlin to “move on to other issues and subjects.”

“I don’t want you to spend any additional EPA time on climate change. No papers, no research, etc., at least until we see what EPA is going to do with climate,” McGartland wrote.

The question arises- will Obama’s Cap and Trade bill still be passed now that we know that Global Warming is a farce? I maintain my stance that focusing on Global Warming or even Global Cooling is simply an example of the public overfocusing on hype rather than on what’s really necessary. Certainly reducing pollution and carbon emissions is important but I’d like to see the Global Warming fanatics focus their energy on something more important like water conservation. (see www.4fiberstone.com or www.naturalsourceprinting.com for more info on the water crisis and simple ways you can help).

Check back often we’ll keep an eye on this story as it unfolds.

McCain’s not the only loser here

A record $400MM+ was spent on the 2008 Presidential Campaign. Figures aren’t in yet but print ads, stickers, signs, etc… for the Obama campaign likely amount to at least 1/4 of that figure! So, what’s the president elect’s plan for all of that garbage? Who will pick it up, where will it go- landfill? And what of the Obama (and, in fairness- McCain) ’08 stickers.

A record $400MM+ was spent on the 2008 Presidential Campaign. Figures aren’t in yet but print ads, stickers,

Natural Source Printing, Inc. contacted the Obama campaign to discuss printing political signs and banners on it’s tree-free, zero water consumption FiberStone™ stone paper. At Label Impressions, Inc. we attempted to contact the Obama headquarters many times to discuss printing these short term stickers with soy inks on tree-free papers and/or stone papers such as FiberStone™ rock paper but no luck. Now what? We would LOVE to hear your input. And if anyone has figures (printing estimates, etc…) we DO want to see those! Weigh in folks. Let’s make this a blog for suggestions! What’s your idea?! WHAT SHOULD OBAMA DO WITH ALL OF THOSE CAMPAIGN SIGNS AND STICKERS?!

The economy or the environment? Which is more important, and where do the candidates REALLY stand on environmental issues? Read below- you might be surprised!

If you’re like me you’re very confused right now. You’re losing sleep over the economy and wondering which candidate really cares about the environment. Well, I’ll tell you that from what I’ve seen neither really ‘cares’ about the environment, but which one will fight for legislation that helps the economy AND the environment???

Rather than me tell you what I think, let’s see what environmental groups and other voters think. Click here to learn more, then come back and comment HERE! I’d love to know what YOU think!

Oh, but before I go let me say this… forget promises, forget voting track record, if Obama, Biden, McCain OR Palin REALLY cared about the environment at ALL would they be printing up (or authorizing the printing of) and plastering virgin paper posters, signs, vinyl (petroleum laden) stickes and throw away plastic buttons in the millions?! Think about it!

P.S. Somebody tell Obama and McCain about FiberStone™ tree-free paper made from stone instead of trees!

Just in- Starbucks accused of being wasteful.. big surprise! But I WAS indeed surprised at the figures. Starbucks wastes over 6 Million Gallons of Water Per Day!

—

From the UK Sun last night:

STARBUCKS was blasted by environmental experts last night after The Sun discovered it pours millions of litres of precious water down the drain at its coffee shops. The giant coffee chain has a policy of keeping a tap running non-stop at all its 10,000 outlets worldwide, wasting 23.4 MILLION litres a day. That would provide enough daily water for the entire two million-strong population of drought-hit Namibia in Africa or fill an Olympic pool every 83 minutes.

—

Here’s the deal folks: Forget global warming- clean, drinkable WATER is the real threat to mankind. Here are some key ‘FACTS’:

Less than 1% of the world’s water is drinkable.

The U.S. consumes 450 BILLION Gallons of water per day. We flush more than 40% of it down the toilet. (not counting Starbucks!)

The number one cause of death on the planet is due to waterborne diseases. 5,000 children a day die from waterborne diseases.”
-Allen Hershkowitz
Ph.D. National Resources Defense Council

“Clean, drinkable water is going to be as valuable in the future as oil is today.”
-Allen Hershkowitz
Ph.D. National Resources Defense Council

One ton of paper creates up to 16,000 gallons of contaminated waste water
One ton of virgin paper creates about 9,000 gallons of contaminated waste water

Starbucks uses a LOT of virgin AND recycled paper. Do you have ANY idea how much water they waste in their printing alone? And they think that using recycled paper is enough?! Starbucks HAS been presented with alternatives such as stone paper, which uses no water but they won’t go for it, probably because it costs a few bucks more. Shame on them.

I generally try to stay neutral and I’ve been found to defend corporate America more often than not but today’s news sickens and saddens me.

How about you? Will you be able to sit in a nice air conditioned Starbucks tomorrow, sipping your Grande Cinnamon Dolce Latte without guilt, while kids in Nambia die of cholera? So before you order up that Grande’ double frappa’ whatever, tell ‘em to turn off the water folks (then enjoy your latte)!
